An Indian women should also do men’s work and a man shouldn’t do women’s work. Is it true?

If you are a working woman regardless of what you work(a doctor/Engineer) you have to also do all the work at home. Can’t the husband supposed to help?My MIL says: It is ok for a woman to do mans job but a man should not do the women’s work. Is it true?

No way…I’m an Indian woman and a working professional. My husband is also a professional. Growing up, he did very little…his mother did EVERYTHING for him. Now that we are married, I started off by asking him nicely to do little things…like making the bed in the mornings, dusting, etc. Now he is able to clean, do dishes, and vacuum! Even if he doesn’t do it perfectly, I never criticize: I’m just pleased that he is trying. The other option is to get a weekly maid. I mean, is it really worth it to take on so much yourself or get upset at your husband? Also, your MIL is from another generation…things have changed (why is she even offering her opinion? It’s none of her business).
