Work At Home Editing Jobs
What can I do, like for work? I’m a descent writer, good typing speed, and novice computer skills.?
I would eventually like to start working again, and I am wondering if there is anything I might be able to do in what I think of as my “field”. I am fairly good at English: grammar, punctuation, vocabulary, spelling, and so on. I think that my writing style is fair. I have very little formal education, however. I can type over fifty words per minute, although my ten-key speed is very poor. I really know very, very little about computers (how they run, how to fix them, what is inside, etc.) but I am getting better at navigating the internet.
I wonder if there are any kinds of jobs, perhaps “work from home online” jobs, that I might be able to get. It would be nice to be self-supported again. Moreover, I’d like to think that there may be something that I can do that involves writing or editing, and that may serve to sort of get my foot into the door. I’m an aspiring writer, but, frankly, the unlikeliness of being published, and the difficulty in even getting read, is discouraging.
You would be most likely to get some sort of basic clerical position,something involving data entry, although you really need to get more computer skills and it helps to be able to touch-type very fast. Forget editing, there are very few editing positions around and you would normally need qualifications or have worked in the publishing industry or in media for some time. Writing is a very dicey way to earn a living, prepare to starve, lol.
There are none of these so-called online jobs that you could earn any significant money from, sorry.
If you have reasonable people skills you could combine administrative and customer service work, just be aware that customer service is very stressfull.
If you have the time, you might look into doing a course in library studies to be a library assistant or technician, as they call them. That usually involves a year or two though depending on where you live.
