work at home depot
need some feedback from those who work at home depot?

hi all, wanted the scoop on working at home depot, likes dislikes, and any reasons not to work at home depot. thanks.
oh yeah, and if anyone knows exactly how much they start out at that would be helpfull also

I’ve been working at a Home Depot store in Massachusetts for almost 3 years and I love it. As long as you do your job well, they take care of you financially.

There is a lot of room for growth. If you start out as an associate and really excell, then within 6 months of starting, they’ll bump you to department head. After that, there is a typical wait time of 12 months to make it to Assistant Manager. From there, though, are a lot of different avenues to take. Loss prevention, buying office, trainers for specialty classes.

The only reason I can come up with not to work for Home Depot is the structural reorganization that is going on. We just replaced our CEO and the new guy Frank Blake seems fair enough, with good ideas on how to fix the company. We just really haven’t seen any of the execution of these ideas yet.
