How to tell the differences in metals?

Ok I am thinking of starting to collect scrap metals (I already recycle on a larger scale then most people) and I want to know how to tell to differences between metals for instants how to spot the differences between steel and titanium or nickle and aluminum. I would really like to know how to know how to tell them apart (you can make a lot more money if you can), ten points to the best answer.

only carbon (typical steel) is magnetic. the stainless that sells at a much highr rate than carbon steel is non-magnetic. titanium extremely strong and light, aluminum light and maleable (you can dent it easy)

hold on to anything you have right now, prices are way too low to make the trip worthwhile. you can also collect radiators, electric motors, the heating elements in toasters/dryers, old brass at garage sales…do it a while you’ll get the hang of it. Also, do not go to one source people all over town pay different, call ahead first.
