They are little advertisement displayed on Google search engine. They typically appear on the right hand side and at the very top of the browser every time someone searches a particular keyword or phrase on Google search engine. Anyone can purchase Ads on Google, large corporations to individuals working online from the comfort of their homes.

How does Google Ad words Work?

Google AdWords uses the pay-per-click method of advertising. This simply means that if you have an ad on the Google Search or Content Network and a potential customer types in a keyword or phrase your ad will show up. When the potential customer clicks on your Ad you pay a predetermined amount of money to Google. Generally advertisers Bid to have their ads shown when specific search terms are used. The higher the bid the higher on top of the page your ads will show, which means more money for the advertisers.

Advertisers generally bid anywhere from $0.05 to $.50 per click and even higher depending on the competition for a particular key word. What makes this system cost effective and lucrative is the fact that you only pay when someone view your ad. This is a very targeted method of advertising where you can budget accordingly. To make this clearer and applicable, let say you are selling phones. You would bid on the search term “Cell Phones”. When the word “Cell Phones” is searched on Google your ad will appear.
