how to make money as a one man junk metal scrapper?

Great time to be in this business as metal prices have skyrocketed over the last few years. Get as big a truck as you can afford. Then you have to be a salesman. Go around to businesses that generate metal scrap and offer to pick it up very frequently if they’ll bring it back to the shop. Perhaps offer to do other hauling for them (like boxes to the dump) or offer to keep their yard clean. Think about scrap metal that’s embedded in other products – plastic coated copper wire, copper wound electric motors, old transformers (although it’s a competitive business on the big ones), old furnaces might have some copper gas lines and steel or iron burners. Be willing to pay for the scrap if it makes sense, but a one man show will have to outhustle others and do a milk run to small scrap producers.
